Pleasant snags floor at Hyatt Waikiki
TRAVEL wholesaler
Pleasant Holidays and the Hyatt Regency Waikiki may have come up with a first-of-a kind arrangement in the hospitality industry.
"I don't know of anyone else that's doing this," said Ken Phillips, staff vice president of corporate communications for Pleasant Holidays.
The company is promoting its own "Diamond Level" floor at the Waikiki hotel with its own packages of services and amenities.
"It just came about as a business opportunity where we could guarantee a certain number of rooms a night at a certain higher level. It will have our name on it, provided to our clients on an exclusive basis," Phillips said.
The yearlong arrangement will begin July 1 and end June 31, 2007, unless it is renewed.
Pleasant Holidays hopes to keep all 18 rooms full by offering five-night stays starting at $756 per person for a mountain view room. The stays include lei greeting, airport-to-hotel transportation, priority luggage service, daily buffet breakfast, kids' meals, a selection of national and local daily newspapers and connecting rooms for families, when available, for an additional $28 a day.
Travelers can do their own booking through Pleasant's Web site, but the company also encourages people to book through the travel agents with whom it does business.
The Hyatt Regency Waikiki also offers the Regency Club and its own branded luxury packages on higher floors. The hotel company could not be reached for comment.
