Hoku leads isle stocks
Hoku Scientific Inc. was the biggest gainer in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin stock index this week, up nearly 6 percent to close at $6.40.
The fuel-cell technology developer, which began trading in August at $6, has been as high as $12.80.
Just behind Hoku this week was Cyanotech Corp., up more than 4 percent to close at 72 cents.
Trailing the index was Hawaiian Holdings Inc., the parent of Hawaiian Airlines. Hawaiian was off 10 percent this week to close at $5.21.
Year to date, however, the company's stock is up more than 30 percent.
The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
