‘Drood’ opens at DHT
MEET THE CHAIRMAN: Dennis Proulx greeted Michelle Baltazar as the cast and crew of Diamond Head Theatre's production of "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" celebrated opening night with a post-show party at Kincaid's in Ward Warehouse on Friday. Proulx is a solid foundation for the interactive comic musical in the dual roles of William Cartwright, the chairman of the Music Hall Royale, and Mayor Thomas Sapsea, a character in the play-within-a-play that Cartwright is presenting. Baltazar is a member of the corset-clad female ensemble, most of whom wore corsets to the party.
DARN THAT CORSET: Lisa Konove welcomed Colin Miyamoto when he arrived at Kincaid's well after midnight. Miyamoto said he had decided to support the women in the cast by also wearing a corset to the party, and it took longer than he expected to get laced up.

SHE'S HOT: "Drood" Diamond Sponsor Mark Wong congratulated Kirsten Dixon on her performance as virginal Rosa Bud. Dixon is one of several actors who has to be ready to play the killer. It all depends on how the audience votes.
MYSTERY MAN: Chuck Anctil's role in the play-within-a-play is a minister with secret ties to Rosa Bud. Suzanne Green has a larger role as a famed male impersonator hired by the Music Hall Royale to play Edwin Drood.
A WELL-DRESSED MAN: Daniel Kunkel, left, was fashionably attired as he talked with Richard Aadland, Dennis Proulx and Guy Merola. Merola is excellent as designated villain John Jasper, a man tortured by his unrequited love for Rosa Bud.
TALKING 'DROOD': Director/choreographer Greg Zane talked during intermission with DHT board member Uli Cutter, left, and Jany Cataldo at the sponsors' reception backstage.
ONE OF THE LOVERS: Gary Masuoka, left, Leigh Marcello and Chris Villasenor shared a booth with Angelito Anacan. By audience vote, Anacan was one of two lovers in the show that night.
ONE FOR THE SHOW: Vincent Green and props designer Shane Garcia drank to the success of the show at the pre-show sponsors' reception.
ANOTHER NIGHT, ANOTHER SHOW: DHT Artistic Director John Rampage welcomed Dr. John Magauran to the pre-show reception.
