Students held signs yesterday in front of Kaahumanu Elementary School reminding drivers to slow down. AIG Hawaii Insurance Co. sponsors the program, which has identified 40 "Hot Spots" across the state where speeding cars and student safety are a concern around schools. Among the 50 or so students who participated were Kevin Milla, left, Mick Colling, Michelle Huynh, Richard Loyd (behind), Charelle Panganoran, Jalesa Kobayashi, Nelson Huynh and Yuki Loyd (partially hidden).

Oahu Head Start sponsored "Fathers of Hawaii, Ka Pono No Na Keiki (For the Sake of the Children)," an event held yesterday at Keehi Lagoon Park to honor fathers and the important role they play in children's lives. Eugene Jeadrik helped his 4-year-old son, Pelix, color a picture.
