Winkler, Wiktorsson complete first day at NCAAs

The University of Hawaii's Thomas Winkler and Mats Wiktorsson completed their first day at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in Atlanta yesterday.

Winkler placed 43rd in the 50 freestyle preliminaries with a time of 20.06 seconds. He failed to make the finals, but he still has two events left -- the 100 and 200 backstroke.

In 1-meter springboard diving, Wiktorsson finished 21st with a 274.60, but failed to make the finals. Wiktorsson still has the 3-meter and platform events left.
