UH golfers finish fourth at Thompson
Freshman Carolina Perez led the University of Hawaii women's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the 11-team Donnis Thompson Invitational yesterday at the Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course.
Perez shot a 6-over 219 over three rounds to claim sixth place, moving up from seventh with a third-round 1-over 72. She finished nine strokes behind leader Marci Turner of Tennessee. Rainbow Wahine sophomore Xyra Suyetsugu was the only other UH golfer to finish in the top 20, posting a two-day total of 227 to finish in a tie for 18th place.
Tennesse won the team title, blowing away the nearest competition by 38 strokes. New Mexico took second, while LSU finished third.
Hawaii-Hilo ended the tournament in 11th place at 121-over.
Seasiders breeze by Wisconsin-Green Bay
The Brigham Young-Hawaii men's tennis team didn't drop a single set in its 9-0 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay yesterday in Laie.
Dillon Porter got the win for the Seasiders on the No. 1 court, defeating Tim Prudlow, 6-3, 6-3.
The Seasiders improved to 10-0 for the season and play Hawaii-Hilo today at 2 p.m. in Laie.
