Halau Ku Mana instructor Kanoa Castro planted a lai, or ti plant, at Kewalo Basin Park yesterday as students formed a circle around him. The charter school is researching and cultivating a native plant garden at the oceanside park in collaboration with other community organizations as part of its studies.
