Wie commits to Samsung
October event completes schedule of LPGA events for this year

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- Michelle Wie accepted an invitation Monday to the Samsung World Championships, filling out the eight LPGA Tour events the 16-year-old is allowed to play this year.
Wie made her professional debut at Samsung last October, and it was a memorable start. She finished in a tie for fourth place, but was disqualified later for what was ruled a bad drop in the third round that led her to sign an incorrect scorecard.
This year's tournament will be played Oct. 12-15 at Bighorn Golf Club, where Wie's family recently bought a house.
Wie, a junior at Punahou School in Hawaii, already has played the Fields Open in Hawaii. She plans to play all four major championships, along with the Evian Masters, HSBC Match Play Championship and the Samsung.
Because she is not an LPGA Tour member, she is allowed only six exemptions. The U.S. Women's Open and Women's British Open do not count toward her six.
