Contestants compete to see who can
eat the most corned beef musubi

The Second Annual St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef Musubi Eating Contest was held yesterday at Kahala Mall. Last year's champion, Tony Enrique, chowed down but only managed to eat five within the five-minute time limit.

This year's women's and men's division winners were Aggie Michael, who ate four musubi, and Mike Eckart, who ate eight. The musubi were provided by L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. Four of its restaurants sell the corned beef musubi, only on St. Patrick's Day.

Yesterday's parade route went from Fort DeRussy to Kapiolani Park and featured a number of Celtic clubs and Irish organizations. The 39th annual tribute to the Irish saint brought out the fun-loving characteristics in viewers of all nationalities.
