Stoopid sounds come to Pipeline
FOR the third time in as many years, Southern California's
Slightly Stoopid will be in town for a concert at Pipeline Cafe.
Tickets for the April 28 show, priced at $17 each, go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday at all Ticketmaster outlets. The band continues to tour in support of their fifth album, "Closer in the Sun," which was released last year.
It's also nice to see promoter Nikki Robinson jumping back into the fray -- this concert appears to be the first offering from Pau Hana Productions in 2006 ...
NEED a makeover to go with that cocktail? Check out "Image Night: RE" tonight at the Wave Waikiki.
While you're sipping on a drink, keep an eye out for Star 101.9's Maleko, who will be giving away prizes from CHOP, Sanctuary Salon and Fixx Cosmetics. A fashion show is also planned, featuring designs by Koko Cabana, crazybeautiful and Second Skin.
The party will also serve as a fundraiser, with the proceeds going to the Hawaii Life Foundation. Minimum donation is $5 at the door.
Can't get out tonight? The Wave continues the party on Friday with Pimpbot's fifth-anniversary celebration. You also don't want to miss Monday's new "Black Monday" weekly with DJ Jrama ...
IF YOU like to shop, there are a few new retail options on Oahu these days.
Saturday brings the grand opening of Mister 3, a collaborative effort by Butigroove, Fokai and Keoki Surfboard Designs.
The store, at 870 Kapahulu Ave., will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Kainoa McGee and Jason "Mayhem" Miller will be there to sign autographs, with the Butigirlz hanging out as well.
Up the street on Waialae, Natural Rasta recently opened its doors on the corner of 13th Avenue (above Glenn's Cycles). Along with all sorts of reggae-themed products, you can find out all the latest info on shows happening around town ...
AND ON the Leeward side, Kavet the Catalyst has reopened Prototype at Pearlridge Uptown after a stint at Windward Mall. In conjunction with its grand opening, an art show featuring Angry Woebot and Peekaboo is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. DJs Observ, Memoirs, BM13 and Oliver Twist will be on the decks, and Sentrek will present a special MPC set sometime during the night.
If you've got art skills, head back to Prototype on Saturday for "Blackbook Sessions" from 5 to 9 p.m. Bring your best stuff to be judged by the Pockets Full of Monsters crew, or take part in the in-store character and word battles. The Nocturnal Sound Krew's DJ Solution will also play a guest set.
