Celebrate Peace
The Rotary Club of Honolulu presents a four-week series of talks promoting the principles of peace beginning Wednesday.
Peaceful prevention and resolution of problems, accepting and embracing differences and collaboration are among subjects to be discussed.
Speakers include Christina Kemmer of Communications Pacific, Jon Katherin of Future Leaders for Peace, retired Gen. Fred Weyand and Andrian Bellamy, former CEO of Duty Free.
Wednesday's session will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Cost is $18.35 and includes lunch.

A hapa competition
Hula dancers and singers are being sought for the Fourth Annual Hapa Haole Hula & Music Festival.
Winning singers will receive recording contracts from Hula Records. Hula winners will receive prizes from the Pa'i Foundation. Past vocal winners include Mahela Ichinose and Paul Shimomoto.
A preliminary competition will be held at noon April 1 at Ala Moana's Centerstage, with finals May 12 at the Hale Koa Hotel.
Deadline to enter is March 27.
Applications are also being accepted for the First Annual Hapa Haole Hula & Music Festival in Las Vegas. Applications are due May 31.

Film fest seeks help
Volunteers are being sought for the fourth Pacifika: New York Hawaiian Film Festival, to be held May 19 to 21 in New York City.
The festival is a joint venture of The Hawaii Cultural Foundation and the New York University's Graduate Department of Film and Television.
The festival is a weekend of films, discussions and workshops that explore Polynesian artistic expression.
Positions vary from ad solicitation to poster, postcard and flyer distribution and ushers.
