The Makaha Sons, 6:45 p.m. at Chai's Island Bistro. Call 585-0011.
Wish the Makaha Sons a belated happy 30th anniversary when the legendary Hawaiian trio perform at Chai's Island Bistro this weekend.
Moon Kauakahi and John and Jerome Koko marked three decades together on Feb. 22; the big party ("Take a Walk in the Country 4") is planned for June 17 at Blaisdell Arena.
Can't make it this week? The Sons will play again next Friday at the restaurant.
Friday
X-Factor, 8 p.m. at thirtyninehotel. Call 599-2552.
As part of monthly "First Friday" festivities downtown, thirtyninehotel welcomes Kasi "Rebel Girl" Nunes (above) and her band, X-Factor.
2006 could turn out to be a big year for the band, which recently signed with Sharpnote Records and plans to release an album (with accompanying three-month mainland tour) in June.
Joining X-Factor at thirtyninehotel are DJ H.O.P., percussionist Mouusa, belly dancers from the Shakti Dance Movement and the funk band Organix.
