Bank of Hawaii e-mail scam circulates
Officials are warning residents not to respond to a scam e-mail bearing Bank of Hawaii's name which has recently surfaced in the islands.
Anyone who did reveal personal information to the scammers is asked to contact the bank immediately.
The e-mail says, "We recently reviewed your account and we suspect an unauthorized ATM-based transaction on your account."
It tells those who receive it to click on a link to a Web site, where they are asked to submit personal banking information.
Bank of Hawaii spokesman Stafford Kiguchi said about 10 customers called about the e-mail yesterday.
He advised anyone who receives the notice to delete it immediately. "We do advise that customers never respond to an unsolicited request of personal information," he said.
Those with questions about the e-mail can call the bank's customer service line at 888-643-3888.
