Hawaiian up 21%
Hawaiian Holdings Inc. was the best-performing stock in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin stock index this week, gaining more than 21 percent to close at $4.62.
The parent company of Hawaiian Airlines is also the top gainer so far this year, up nearly 16 percent, but over the past 12 months the stock remains down more than 25 percent.
Bringing up the rear this in the index this week is Hoku Scientific Inc., down more than 8 percent to close at $7.98. But year to date, Hoku is up 5 percent.
The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
