Hayato Fukumitsu, a sophomore business student at the University of Hawaii-Manoa, takes off on a "manini" shorebreak ripple near the Wall at Waikiki Beach on Friday afternoon. Surf along the south shore is expected to stay small. But a high-surf warning is in effect for the north and west shores. Surf on the north shore could reach heights of 25 to 30 feet today.

Sam Halm, center, looked at mirrored sliding doors in the "Screens and Things" display yesterday during the 12th Annual BIA-Hawaii Home Building and Remodeling Show in the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. The show continues today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $4, and $1 for seniors 55 and older.
