Bow WOW!
It's the Year of the Dog
Kailua's newest art gallery, the lodestar collective, is doing its part to increase traffic in the Windward community's art scene with an exhibition that's accessible to a broad audience.
"Dog Show" celebrates Chinese New Year with a stylistically diverse array of works inspired by the year of the Fire Dog. Carl Pao's bold, geometric pieces stand alongside pen and pencil drawings by Maikai Tubbs, and acrylic paintings and mixed media works by other lodestar artists. There are even handcrafted necklaces by Diana Sanchez, sure to draw in dog lovers, and dog toy art pieces.
Lodestar members KC Grennan, Daven Hee, Aaron Padilla, Pao, Sanchez and Tubbs say the show offers "objects of beauty for you and your furry friends."
"Dog Show" runs thorugh Feb. 26 at lodestar collective, 438-A Uluniu St. in the Uluniu Arts Building in Kailua. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays to Sundays. Call 262-4606.
