Hoku gains 14%
Hoku Scientific Inc. was the top gainer in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin stock index this week, climbing more than 14 percent to close at $10.45.
The fuel-cell technology developer, which debuted in August at $6, has been as high as $12.80.
Behind Hoku in the index this week was Maui Land & Pineapple Co., which gained 7 percent to close at $38.80.
The worst performer this week was penny stock Mera Pharmaceuticals Inc., which lost more than 5 percent, closing at 1.5 cents.
The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
