Red Raiders upend Menehunes

Despite nailing 13 3-pointers, Moanalua fell victim to a tenacious Kahuku defense as the No. 5 Red Raiders defeated the Menehunes 70-60 last night in an Oahu Interscholastic Association game at Kahuku.

Okesene Ale Jr. scored a game-high 26 points to again lead the Red Raiders, who clinched the OIA East title with the win. Kahuku improves to 10-0, and Moanalua falls to 8-2.

With the Menehunes leading by four points after the first quarter, the Red Raiders turned up their full-court press, holding Moanalua to just eight shot attempts and two free throws over the next two quarters. In that time, Kahuku outscored Moanalua 29-10.

Bao Jun Lei had a team-high 22 points, including five 3-pointers, and Wayne West added 12 points and three 3-pointers for the Menehunes.

Jason Tasaka and Kerstan Ho each posted 14 points to lead the Rough Riders to a comeback win over the Knights.

Trailing by six points at halftime, the Rough Riders hit 12 of 18 free throws in the third quarter to pull ahead. Keo Keola added 10 points as Roosevelt improved to 6-4.

Marvin Judd and Tyler Caswell each added 11 points to help the Mustangs improve to 7-3. The Falcons, led by Jeff Khautakoun's game-high 13 points, dropped to 1-9.

Elijah Lesu led four Governors in double figures with 15 points and Elijah Filili added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, as Farrington manhandled Thompson.

John Keen, the league's second-leading scorer, scored a game-high 21 points for the Sharks, who finished the season 0-11.

Beau Albrechtson scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Bulldogs to a win over the Tigers.

Keone Reyes and Thomas Pyo each added 11 points as Kaimuki pulled into a two-way tie with Moanalua for second place in the OIA East with the win. The Bulldogs own the tiebreaker, and will earn a bye in the first-round of the OIA playoffs with a win tomorrow against Kalani.
