Services set for Society of Seven member

Funeral services will be held Saturday in Las Vegas for Gary Bautista, longtime member of the Society of Seven.

Bautista died Monday in California at the age of 54 after suffering a stroke and heart attack. He had been a member of the musical group since 1984.

Bautista is survived by his wife, Reeza; daughter Erica and son Garyl in the Philippines; and daughter Jewel and stepson Santino of Honolulu.

Members of the Society of Seven will hold a golf tournament at Olomana links in Waimanalo on April 3 to raise money for Jewel, who is 9. Entry forms may be requested by faxing 922-6955.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Friends of Jewel Bautista, c/o Outrigger Entertainment, 150 Kaiulani Ave., Honolulu 96815.

Memorials honor Marine who died in Iraq

Services are scheduled Sunday and Monday for Marine Pvt. Lewis Thomas Calapini, who was killed last week in Iraq.

The 21-year-old Waipahu native died in a vehicle accident west of Baghdad on Jan. 23.

A service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Borthwick Mortuary Maunakea Chapel, with visitation from 5 to 9 p.m.

On Monday another service will be held at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Chapel at 11 a.m., with visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Calapini will be buried at 1 p.m. in the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.

He is survived by his parents, Orencio and Helen Grace Calapini; brother Marvin; grandmother Filipinas Basug; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
