Dancevic, Osterloh capture Waikoloa tennis
Canada's Frank Dancevic and American Lila Osterloh are the men's and women's winners of the USTA Waikoloa Village Challenger tennis tournament.
In the finals, Dancevic defeated Yen Hsun Lu 6-7 (15), 6-2, 6-2 and Osterloh beat Jessica Kirkland 6-4, 6-1.
Chin Wei Chan and Marie Eve Pelletier took the women's doubles title, and Cli Mamit and Michael Kohlmann captured the men's doubles championship.
UH women earn 3 first-place finishes
Three University of Hawaii women's indoor track and field athletes placed first in events at the Washington Open #2 in Seattle yesterday.
The Rainbow Wahine's Tiara Krismunando won the pole vault with a leap of 11 feet, 934 inches.
Hawaii swept the high jump, as Annett Wichman, Emily Sheppard and Mallory Gilbert all cleared 5-5. Wichmann won by making it in fewer attempts.
UH's Novelle Murray won the weight toss with a heave of 52-11 1/2.
Waikiki Yacht Club to hold race series
The Waikiki Yacht Club will start the 2006 Waikiki Offshore Series of races in July.
The series begins with a 145-mile race from Waikiki to Maui and back in July. The series also includes buoy races and a medium-distance race.
