Mules kick Mustangs to advance to OIA soccer semis
Daniel Phelps scored two goals to help Leilehua knock off previously unbeaten Kalaheo 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Oahu Interscholastic boys soccer playoffs yesterday at Kapolei.
Syd Tom and Josh Trusdale each added a goal as the Mules (8-2-1) move on to visit Kapolei in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Kalaheo ended its season 7-1-3.
Mililani 2, Kaiser 1
The Trojans (8-1-1) moved on to the semifinals by edging the Cougars (8-2-2) in penalty kicks, 5-4.
Mililani's Dustin Shimatsu and Kaiser's Myung Yoon each scored goals in regulation. The Trojans play Moanalua in the semfinals at Kapolei on Wednesday.
Kapolei 6, Kalani 0
Curtis Kiyabu and Aaron Santiago each knocked in two goals to lead the Hurricanes in a rout of the Falcons (7-3-2).
Justin Malvar and Drew Geis both added a goal as the top-seeded Hurricanes improved to 10-0-0.
Moanalua 2, Pearl City 1
Joey Nakamura and Kenneth Ogata each scored a goal as the Menehunes got past the Chargers.
Moanalua, the top seed out of the East, improved to 9-1-1. The Chargers, led by a Cameron-Joshua Dela Cruz goal, fell to 7-3-1.
