Man pleads not guilty to Big Isle killing
HILO » Marwan Timothy Saad Jackson, accused of killing his girlfriend, Sarah Fay, at her home south of Hilo last year, pleaded not guilty to murder yesterday.
Jackson also pleaded not guilty to three related charges: sexual assault, kidnapping and violation of a protective order.
Circuit Judge Glenn Hara set trial for Aug. 7. He ordered Jackson, 24, to continue to be held without bail, saying, "He poses a serious risk of danger to the community, and there is a serious risk he will again engage in illegal activity."
Fay, 24, was pregnant at the time of the attack. She was kept on life support for 2 1/2 weeks until her son was born by Caesarean delivery on Dec. 12. Fay's brother and his wife are adopting the baby, Josiah Fay.
Resentencing of Jackson on previous charges, set for yesterday, was delayed to Feb. 10.
