Narcissis Queen Coronation Ball
A QUEEN FOR THE YEAR OF THE DOG:
2006 Narcissus Queen Kristi Sue-Ako talked with Gov. Linda Lingle after her coronation Saturday at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii's 57th Narcissus Festival Coronation Ball in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom. State Sen. Gordon Trimble, left, Nolan Kido, Collin Wong and Tracy Okubo joined Lingle in congratulating Sue-Ako on the beginning of her reign.
Pamela Young was escorted by her husband, Gary Sprinkle, right, and bodyguards provided by the Harry Winston Ala Moana Salon to ensure the safety of her jewelry. Young looked fabulous wearing a blue diamond sapphire necklace with matching diamond sapphire earrings and a 5.36-carat sapphire diamond ring. It added up to 153 carats of "bling" valued at $1.5 million.
NEXT STOP, SAN FRANCISCO:
George Grover Jr., left, and his wife, Doris, flew in from San Francisco to attend the ball as guests of Dr. Lawrence Tseu. Doris Grover is national director of the international Miss Chinatown USA pageant. George Grover will be grandmaster of the nationally televised Chinatown parade in San Francisco next month.
TAKEO CHECKS IN:
Always-fashionable Takeo arrived fashionably on time with Dr. Caroline Hee. Takeo celebrates his 25th anniversary as a designer with "New Beginning," a one-man show for the 31st Annual Japanese Women's Society Fashion Show May 7 at the Sheraton Waikiki.
The Coronation Ball was a big night for Alvin Wong, president-elect of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and his wife, Donna. Wong, who also was general chairman of the 57th Annual Narcissus Festival, announced during the program that he and Donna were celebrating their 26th anniversary.
