AUGIE'S HOT!: Comedian Augie Tulba, with lei, relaxed with the cast of his "Hawaiian Style Comedy Show" after entertaining a full house Wednesday at the Esprit Lounge. Tulba did an excellent job connecting with visitors and residents alike as he talked about local life and his experiences on the mainland. Comedian/emcee Champ, left, dancers Malia Mendigorin and Mike Tulba, Coach Dave, comedian Jose Dynomite and Puu Wong add two more comic voices, a touch of Hollywood Hawaiiana and logistic support to a solid show. Tulba's "Hawaiian Style Comedy Show" takes over the Esprit Lounge each Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Cover is $10. Call 921-4600.

THUMBS UP FOR 'UNDERWORLD EVOLUTION': Malia Casson and Alexis Badillo were among the capacity crowd that enjoyed a preview screening of "Underworld Evolution" Thursday at Dole Cannery. Badillo, who'd seen the first film in the "Underworld" series, said the sequel is "a lot better than the first one. The action was good, (although) the story line was kinda weak." Casson said she went to the screening "because he was going." Kate Beckinsale reprises her role of super-vampire Selene in the fantasy gore-fest.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIANA: Liana Green celebrated her birthday with her boyfriend, Matt Green, Jan. 13, at Sam Choy's Breakfast Lunch & Crab. Green's niece, Hawaiian falsetto singer 'Anelaikalani, serenaded them with a miniconcert before they went to the Keith Sweat, Roger and Midnight Star concert.

CATHY ENJOYS CHAOS: Cathy Taketa, center, partied with gal pals Estrella Espinda, left, Diane Dar, Annie Perez and Kristen Nakasone Wednesday at the Sheraton Waikiki. Taketa said they decided to go out and celebrate her birthday on Wednesday because Chaos, one of her favorite local bands, was playing at the Esprit Lounge that night.
