Mayhem suspended; Vitale to fight Lawler
Mixed martial arts fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller was suspended indefinitely, Icon Sport said yesterday.
Miller, who stands trial next month on a first-degree burglary charge stemming from a Dec. 17 arrest, will be replaced by Niko Vitale in a Feb. 25 match against Robbie Lawler.
"We need to send the right message to the fans that members of the Icon Sport family will be held responsible for their actions," Icon president T. Jay Thompson said yesterday.
Vitale, former Icon middleweight champion, faces Lawler, the current champion, in a match that was pushed back from Feb. 18. Lawler knocked out Vitale in the two fighters' previous bout.
