15,000 U2 tickets gone within minutes
DESPITE what you may have read, there were still a few tickets left for
U2's April 8 concert at Aloha Stadium yesterday.
Sure, the only seats available at www.ticketmaster.com when this column went to press were in the nosebleed section (and priced at $95 each), but you could still buy one if you really wanted to. Me? I'm holding out for a second show on April 9, which appears to have been the plan the entire time.
What was impressive, however, was how quickly general admission tickets sold out -- anxious fans snapped up all 15,000 of them in less than 15 minutes ...
HAVE YOU checked out Koi Sushi Restaurant and Sake Lounge yet? Since its grand opening celebration a little more than a week ago, the restaurant is already attracting crowds.
Most of those people are regulars at Skybox upstairs, although The All-American Rejects managed to discover the spot and had dinner there on Thursday.
"That firecracker thing was f-ing awesome," remarked lead singer Tyson Ritter after the guys inhaled a nigiri platter and a plate of the aforementioned Spicy Tuna Dynamite ...
CONGRATS TO DJs Technique and Goodvybe -- they gigged at Los Angeles' Knitting Factory on Sunday, opening up for DJ K-Sly at "Turn Up the Heat," a party thrown by Shaquille O'Neal and hosted by Dwayne Wade ... What happened to the sound system and air conditioning upgrades at NextDoor? I was dripping with sweat during Saturday's Blackalicious show, and the sound went out during their first song due to what appeared to be a blown fuse. I guess the air conditioning fix was only for the upstairs VIP lounge ... Despite performing first due to flight commitments, Zapp was the highlight of Friday's old school concert. I can't wait for promoter Kenny Hill to bring them out here again ...
THE GIRLAS may have temporarily lost Kelli Heath, but they haven't lost their spot at O'Toole's. Heath played there for the last time Jan. 3 before moving to the mainland for school, but fellow Girla Candy Diaz reports that she and Carly Smith will keep playing every first Tuesday at the bar.
Also, the group is comprised of more members than actually perform at gigs. With Heath's absence, Anela Choy will now step into a more public role with the band, while sixth Girla Connie Cruz Oates remains behind the scenes ...
