Punahou grad Turbin makes Hula Bowl
Occidental safety Derek Turbin, a Punahou graduate, accepted an invitation last night to play in the Hula Bowl at Aloha Stadium on Saturday.
Turbin, 6-4, 210 pounds, helped lead Occidental to the SCIAC championship and a No. 6 national ranking in Division III last season.
"It's great. I haven't played a football game in Hawaii since high school, so I'm really looking forward to it," Turbin said. "It's a great honor to represent Hawaii and the small colleges in the Hula Bowl."
Turbin will play on the East team in the 60th edition of the college all-star game.
The game is back on Oahu after an eight-year run on Maui.
