The Cat Fanciers’ Association hands out ribbons for Hawaii's top kitties

Organizers of the Cat Fanciers' Association Southwestern Regional Show are encouraging the public to attend or participate. The next show will be held at the same location from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 11. Those interested can call Joan Harris at 261-4354.

Alexis Plume held her Siamese cat Phoebe (a.k.a Kamu's Odd Enough) on Saturday. Phoebe had just won ribbons in the Premiere division -- a class for neutered and spayed felines -- and placed as Best Premiere, Best Shorthair Premiere and Best Cat in Premiere, competing with 53 other all-breed and household cats in the event at the Ala Wai Golf Course clubhouse.

Simba was not amused by a judge's attempt to make him play. Owner Margaret Carlile commented that the cat was not having a good day and was usually much friendlier.
