Ching assists in Matador win
Former Kamehameha graduate Megan Ching had nine points and seven assists to lead her Cal State Northridge women's basketball team to a 57-47 win over UC Irvine in a Big West match last night in Northridge, Calif.
She currently leads the Matadors (5-10, 2-2) with 3.5 assists per game.
Hogue's team drops third straight: In New York, Punahou alumna Becky Hogue scored 12 points, but her Columbia team fell to Princeton 78-62 in an Ivy League game last night.
Hogue, a junior, made 5 of 8 shots and 2 of 4 3-pointers. Meagan Cowher, daughter of Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher, scored a career-high 32 points to lead the Tigers.
Bike, run, walk for Epilepsy Foundation
The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii will sponsor bike rides, run and walk events for its fundraiser Jan. 29 at Kapiolani Community College.
The route of the 5-kilometer timed run is from KCC into Diamond Head Crater and return.There is also a non-timed 1-mile walk and non-timed bike rides of 10-, 40-, 75- and 100-kilomenters, all starting and returning to KCC.
All events begin at 7 a.m. Fees are $20 for walkers and runners, $25 for cyclists until tomorrow, with a $5 increase beginning Monday.
