Woman hopes for aid to find brother
The Pearl City man was last seen at his mom’s home in 2004
The sister of a Pearl City man who has been missing for more than a year is making a plea to the public to help find her brother.
Gilbert Paul Caravallo, 36, was last seen hanging out with friends at his mother's home at 3 p.m. Oct. 6, 2004, before she left for work. Gilbert's sister Janie Caravallo, who lives in Santa Clara, Calif., was in Hawaii yesterday to make the plea for help.
"I'm desperate. I wish someone could help us," she said. "The bottom line is that we do want Gilbert to come home no matter what, and I'm hoping there's someone out there who knows something.
"Please, feel my pain, understand and come forward."
Honolulu police missing-persons investigator Phil Camero said there has been "no new developments" in the case, which has for all purposes run cold.
"We do not have anything significant that indicates he's alive or dead," said Camero.
Caravallo said her brother did not work and spent a lot of time hanging out with his friends either at his home, theirs or up in the mountains of the Royal Summit area.
Since his disappearance she has created a Web site, findgilbert.com, to help get the word out.
"He was just a real simple person who came home every night," she said. "He's my only brother, and I'll do anything to help him."
Gilbert Caravallo is described as 6 feet tall, about 225 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and tattoos of his name, "Gilbert C," on his back and the word "Wizard" on his right upper arm.
