'Rockstar' finds home on the moon
AFTER A few weeks off to rest and reorganize, the guys from
VJ Entertainment and
Stone Groove Family have found a new home for "Rockstar Fridays."
Starting this week, the 18-and-over party moves to Brew Moon at Ward Centre. You may remember that Stone Groove had a five-year run here on Sundays that ended in 2004.
As was the case at the party's last venue, "Rockstar Fridays" will feature a mash-up of rap, rock and reggae music and a relaxed dress code. Props also to Lotech Studios on the hand-drawn design for the new flyer that's making the rounds ...
CAN'T WAIT for the weekend to start your New Year's celebration? Check out "Reggae Hits the Pipe" at Pipeline Cafe tonight.
Doors open at 9 p.m. for those 18-and-over, with Ooklah the Moc signed as the headlining band. King Black Super Power DJs Konchos, Papa Smee and Scotch Bonnet will join Pacific Sounds Outernational DJs Liloa, Dunza and Mr. Bone on the decks the rest of the night ...
HERE'S A heartwarming way to ring in 2006 -- score a VIP package at The Living Room and help donate funds to charity by participating in a special auction on eBay.
You've got until about 7:45 p.m. tomorrow to bid on item 6591889800, which includes admission for five to Saturday's "Hallucienda" party, a VIP booth with one bottle of Moët champagne and a pupu platter, a meet-and-greet with DJ Three and a autographed copy of his latest CD.
The Living Room is the only Hawaii-based venue signed up for the Involved Events charity auction, with all proceeds going to UNICEF. Check out www.involvedevents.com for more info ...
AND FINALLY, a few more picks for New Year's Eve: NextDoor's "Big Party in Little China" party is a pretty big deal, since it marks the venue's "grand opening" and the official debut of its new sound system, air conditioning and upstairs VIP lounge ... Indigo's "Running with the Bulls" should be pretty good, too, with special guest Andrew Clyne joining DJs Monkey, Jason Silingo and Ms. Angel on the decks ... Looking for some afterhours action this year? Check out Skybox starting at 3 a.m. for music with DJs FLX, Quiksilva, G-Spot, Technique and others, or head to Mercury for two rooms of house and trance. DJs Akio, Archangel, EP, Illis, Jeremy VerStrat and Mindgame are scheduled to spin ...
THAT'S GOING to do it for me in 2005. Have a safe and happy new year, and I'll see you back here in 2006.
