Athletes of the week

BOYS

Okesene Ale Jr., Kahuku basketball: Scored 23 points and had five steals as the Red Raiders defeated Nanakuli. He also had 22 points, nine rebounds and five steals against Punahou.

GIRLS

Genesis Fruen, Kaimuki softball: Fired a three-hit shutout and went 3-for-3 with a double and RBI against Kaiser.

Honor roll

BASKETBALL

David Howell, Keaau: Scored 19 points in a win over Half Moon Bay (Calif.).

Clayton Laurel, Leilehua: Scored 15 points in a win over Damien to cap a busy week. Earlier in the week, the 6-foot-3, 255-pound senior made a verbal commitment to play football at the University of Hawaii.

Spencer McLachlin, Punahou: Had 15 points and nine rebounds in a win over defending OIA champion Kahuku.

Chase Moses, Kalaheo: Scored 20 points in a win over Leilehua.

Miah Ostrowski, Punahou: Scored 25 points, including going 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, in a win over Maryknoll. Also tallied 15 points in a win over Kahuku.

Clifton Pires, Kalaheo: Scored 15 points against Maryknoll and 18 points against Kohala.

Keone Reyes, Kaimuki: Tallied 17 points in a win over Pearl City.

Kawika Shoji, Iolani: Scored 16 points in a win over Kohala.

Tyler Tsukazaki, Maryknoll: Scored 18 points against Fairfax (Calif.), the nation's third-ranked team. He also scored 37 points in a win over Kalaheo, and had 20 points and three steals in a victory over Nanakuli.

Chris Tumaneng, Kalaheo: Hit a 15-foot jumper with 1.5 seconds left to defeat Leilehua. He finished with seven points, five rebounds and four assists.

Kevin Unga, Kahuku: Scored 16 points in a win over Kohala.

SOCCER

Justin Akai, Mid-Pacific: Scored four goals in a win over Damien.

SOFTBALL

Elsa Apo, Waipahu: The Marauders catcher went 2-for-5, including a grand slam, in a win over Radford.

Makani Duhaylonsod, Mililani: Threw a three-hitter as the Trojans defeated Kapolei.

Puni Kakiva, Radford: Went 3-for-4, including a three-run homer, against Waipahu.

Michelle Panee, Castle: Tossed a three-hit shutout against Kailua.

Caira Pires, Kalaheo: Went 2-for-4 with a home run in a win over Aiea.

Sarah Robinson, Moanalua: Scattered six hits in a five-inning shutout of Kahuku.

Kaui Tom, Kamehameha: Went 3-for-4 with a triple and RBI in a win over Sacred Hearts.
