Lasorda headlines Grand Slam celebration
Former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda is the guest speaker at the fourth University of Hawaii Baseball Grand Slam Celebration, a fundraiser for the Rainbow program, scheduled for Jan. 19 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes pupus, live and silent auctions and a chance to meet the UH coaches and players.
Tickets are $75 each. The cost is $850 for a sponsored table, a portion of which is tax deductible.
Parking is free for guests who present their tickets at the parking kiosk.
Tickets are available online at etickethawaii.com. They are also available by calling 944-BOWS or the UH baseball office at 956-6247.
Warrior volleyball tickets on sale
Season tickets for Hawaii men's volleyball are available for purchase.
Tickets can be bought at the Stan Sheriff Center box office (weekdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.), by phone (944-BOWS) or on the Internet (www.hawaiiathletics.com).
All lower-level seats are $165 plus a premium seating charge. Upper-level seats are $50 for students (ages 4-18 and UH), $105 for seniors and $120 for adults.
The Warriors open the season with two 7 p.m. exhibition matches Jan. 6 and 7 against Douglas College from British Columbia. Hawaii opens the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation on the road at UC Santa Barbara, Jan. 13 and 14, then returns home to host the 12th Outrigger Invitational, featuring UCLA, Ohio State and Penn State, Jan. 18-20.

Audrius Peciukas scored 20 points off the bench as the Hawaii Pacific (2-9) basketball team defeated St. John's (Minn.) 79-62 last night at the Neal Blaisdell Arena.
