311 tickets will make a great gift
LOOKING for a great last-minute gift for the alternative rock fan in your life? Get them tickets to see
311 at the Waikiki Shell next year.
I've heard rumblings about this one for months, but promoters Bamp Project were only recently able to finalize a deal and make the announcement.
One interesting thing about the 311's fall tour, which winds up in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve, is that the band has a different set list for each concert. By the band's estimate, they've played 75 different songs while on the road in the past two months in support of their latest album, "Don't Tread on Me."
Tickets go on sale for the March 25 show on Christmas Eve at all Ticketmaster outlets. Call (877) 750-4400 to order by phone ...
AFTER THE success DJ Paul Brandon had at Pipeline Cafe recently with a release party for the latest installment in his "Mix at Six" mix CD, I've been waiting for someone to capitalize on the local house scene at the club.
Now it looks like Brandon Ko is doing just that, as he presents "Roll Call" tonight with the help of the Bum Squad DJs. Doors open at 9 p.m. for the 18-and-over crowd, with a $14 cover at the door (those over 21 only pay $12).
Along with DJ Technique on the decks, DJs Byte and I/O Control will be on hand to celebrate their new albums. DJs Dawn, Big Daddy, Spellbinder, Chronkite, White Chocolate and Sleepwalker have scheduled sets as well, and yes, a glowstick contest is planned at some point during the evening ...
OVER AT Club 939, Missing Dave headlines the second mainstream event at the Keeaumoku Street gentlemen's club since new owners took over a few months back.
Goldenchild Entertainment brought DJs Jrama, Sonik and K-Smooth in for "The Heavens" last Sunday, but rock grabs the spotlight tonight during "Rockstar!" with 93.1 The Zone's Yung Jon Que hosting. Doors open at 9 p.m. ...
MORE PICKS for this weekend: Henry Kapono performs one last set at 6 p.m. tomorrow, before Kapono's closes for good on New Year's Eve ... Indigo takes things back to the old school tomorrow during "Get Fresh!" DJs FLX, Dano and Daniel J all return for guest sets this week ... And after going on "indefinite hiatus" back in May, local indie rockers My Ex Is Dead hook up for a reunion show on Monday at Detox. Cover is just $5 for the all-ages show that starts at 10 p.m. and will also feature performances by Infinity Burden and the Malcognitas. With hip-hop on Fridays, reggae on Saturdays and other live acts during the week, Detox is really coming up as a hotspot for the under-25 crowd ...
