Star-Bulletin Index


The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian Air lifts

Hawaiian Airlines' parent company, which has the second-worst performing stock this year in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index, soared 7 percent this week to outpace 10 other local companies. Hawaiian Holdings Inc. closed yesterday at $3.80, its highest finish in nearly two weeks.

Central Pacific Financial Corp. was next with a gain of 2.1 percent to $37.65.

Barnwell Industries Inc., which on Monday said its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings more than doubled, fell 12.4 percent to bring up the rear. Barnwell, however, is still the top local gainer this year with a 73.7 percent increase.
