Baseball showcase and series next month
The first Perfect Game Hawaii High School Showcase, open to all high school baseball players in the state, will be held Jan. 7-8 at Les Murakami Stadium.
Perfect Game is a national scouting service that makes its reports available to college coaches and the pros. It is the scouting service that ranks high school players for Baseball America.
In addition, the Perfect Game Winter Championship Baseball Series will be held Jan. 13-16 at Murakami Stadium.
The event involves high-school age teams from the mainland and a team of Hawaii players from the Perfect Game Hawaii High School Showcase the week before. It is also open to any high school team from Hawaii.

LPGA's SBS Open pre-qualifying Jan. 7
A pre-qualifying tournament to get to the qualifying round of the SBS Open at Turtle Bay is Jan. 7.
The winner will play in the qualifier Feb. 13 to the LPGA event, which runs Feb. 16-18.
