Films opening Friday:

"The Family Stone": A man brings his uptight girlfriend to meet his bohemian family for the holidays. Sarah Jessica Parker plays the high-powered, controlling New Yorker who is initially greeted with a mix of awkwardness, confusion and hostility. Dermot Mulroney, Diane Keaton, Claire Danes and Rachel McAdams round out the all-star cast. (PG-13)

"The Producers": A shady Broadway producer and his nerdy accountant concoct a scheme to overfinance a huge flop and pocket the excess budget, but the show, "Springtime for Hitler," unexpectedly becomes a hit. Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick reprise their roles in Mel Brooks' smash stage musical. Will Ferrell and Uma Thurman co-star. (PG-13)
