Rau and Carroll win Pro-Assistant Pro tourney
Kapalua Golf Club's David Rau and Scott Carroll won in a three-hole playoff Wednesday to capture the Aloha Section PGA Head Pro-Assistant Pro Championship at the Hualalai Golf Club on the Big Island.
Rau and Carroll finished the 36-hole, four-ball regulation event at 9-under 135 with Kevin Carll and Tommy Hinds of Ko Olina and Andrew Feldman and Aaron Benedetti of Oahu Country Club.
Carll and Hines were eliminated on the first playoff hole.
On the third playoff hole, Carroll birdied the 219-yard 11th hole for the victory.
Billauer to speak about spinal cord injuries
Life Rolls On Foundation lecturer Jesse Billauer will speak on spinal cord injuries in a free program Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific.
Billauer, 26, suffered a complete spinal cord injury at the C-6 level (a Christopher Reeve-type injury) in an accident at age 17. Previously, he'd been the youngest member of the California State Lifeguard team and was named one of the top 100 up-and-coming surfers by Surfer magazine.
Billauer will share his story, touching on staying positive and working toward a cure for spinal cord injuries.

Honma out as Iolani cross country coach
Karl Honma is stepping down as the Iolani girls cross country coach, according to athletic director Carl Schroers.
Honma, who took over for Greg Char, served as the head coach for one season. He led the Raiders to a third-place finish in the state championships.
