The march, organizers said, shows the community's commitment to educate and eliminate violence against women. It was a silent march to signify that another woman has been silenced by domestic violence, said members of the Hawaii State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Fay's family members participated in the march, which began at Honolulu Hale.
Her sister, Stacey Fay, read a poem she composed and gave to Sarah on her birthday a few years ago.
The poem begins by describing Sarah as a strong Norse woman. It continues, in part:
"Your children cling to you like moths to a light. You are their cocoon.
"Although your eyes look tired, at times there is a clarity in them like cut glass.
"Fire has recently reduced your memories to soot, but flames can be cleansing and ashes spawn new life like crocuses sprouting through February earth."
Sarah Fay's baby is scheduled to be delivered by Caesarean section Monday morning at the Queen's Medical Center.

Her mother and aunt are scheduled to arrive today to be with her and to welcome the boy they call Josiah, a name Fay had picked.
Fay was found battered and unconscious Nov. 25 in a Puna house. Her ex-boyfriend, Marwan Jackson, was charged with murder, sexual assault, kidnapping and robbery. She was pronounced brain-dead Nov. 27 at Queen's.
Fay's friends and acquaintances gathered in Pahoa Sunday and raised $1,800 to help her three children.
Her son and daughter, ages 10 and 7, left for California to be with their father, who has custody.
"They both know about their mom," Stacey Fay said. "Hopefully, they can start a new life. He's a very loving father."
"They know they'll never see her again," Fay said. "And they know it was because of Judah (as her family knew him) or Marwan."
Although they did not witness her beating, they witnessed what he did to their mother on prior occasions, she said.
