Muromoto offers Pulehu Beef Tenderloin dish

This dish was prepared by Tom Muromoto of the Kaanapali Beach Hotel on "Hawaii's Kitchen" Sunday. The show airs at 5:30 p.m. on KHON/Fox.

Pulehu Beef Tenderloin

4 beef tenderloin steaks

» Marinade:
1/4 cup sweet soy sauce
3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
1 teaspoon fish sauce
3 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon chopped garlic
1 teaspoon chopped ginger
2 teaspoons chopped green onions
1/4 cup chopped basil
2 teaspoons chopped cilantro, with stems
1 teaspoon sambal olek
1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
Pepper, to taste
1 cup vegetable oil

Combine marinade ingredients; mix well. Remove 3 tablespoons and set aside. Place beef in remaining marinade. Let sit 4 hours.

Broil to desired doneness. Top with reserved marinade. Serves 6.

Shrimp with Garlic Pesto

8 shrimp, 16/20 count size

» Pesto:
1/4 cup chopped cilantro, with stems
16 cloves garlic, roasted
2 teaspoons chopped green onions
1/5 cup chopped parsley leaves
1 cup olive oil
Salt, to taste

Combine pesto ingredients in blender and blend well. Season with a little salt. Remove 3 tablespoons and set aside. Use remainder to marinate shrimp 2 to 4 hours. Serves 4. Grill until done. Top with reserved pesto.
