Liquor license refusal for Brian's is fishy
SOMETHING smells pretty fishy at
Hawaiian Brian's Billiards. In an area filled with bars and nightclubs, the Kapiolani Boulevard pool hall had its application for a liquor license denied last week.
The reason? Local government officials and neighborhood board representatives jumped on the N.I.M.B.Y. attitude of residents from nearby Kapiolani Manor. They say serving liquor there will be too much for them to bear.
Never mind that two new bars opened in the immediate area earlier this year, and that customers parking in the area and heading to nearby Blue Tropix and Femme Nu are easily mistaken for patrons from Hawaiian Brian's.
