McLachlin, Cotner at Q-school's final stage
At Orlando, Fla., two former Interscholastic League of Honolulu golfers, Parker McLachlin of Punahou and Keoke Cotner of Kamehameha Schools, played 18 holes yesterday in the first of six rounds at PGA Tour qualifying.
McLachlin opened the final stage of Q-school by shooting 35-35--70, 2 under, tied at 29th with 21 other golfers after the first day of the 108-hole tournament.
Only the top 30 and ties from the 164-man field earn their PGA Tour cards for next year.
Cotner shot a 2-over 38-36--74, and faces a difficult task in his quest to earn a spot on the PGA Tour.
