Diggs scores 29 as Vikings rout Sea Warriors
Ryan Diggs scored 29 points and Grant Dykstra added 28 as Western Washington defeated Hawaii Pacific 105-80 last night in NCAA Division II basketball at Bellingham, Wash.
Dykstra hit all 10 of his free-throw attempts for the Vikings (4-1).
Audrias Peciukas scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Sea Warriors (0-2). Donnell Dobbins added 17 points.
Pro team captures 33rd Burns Challenge Cup
The professional team beat the amateur team 15-9 in the two-day Governor John A. Burns Challenge Cup at Mid-Pacific Country Club yesterday.
The event is contested between the top 12 pros and top 12 amateurs in Hawaii based on a points earned in designated events.
The pros took a 7 1/2 to 4 1/2 lead in Monday's team match-play events going into yesterday's individual matches.
Matt Pakkala, Joe Phengsavath, Kirk Nelson, Norman Ganin-Asao, Lance Taketa, Jerry Mullen and Kevin Carll all won matches yesterday to wrap up the victory for the pros.
Amateur Alvin Okada Jr. had a hole-in-one on the 16th hole in his 3 and 2 victory over Reynold Lee.
Green, white night for UH-UNLV game
The University of Hawaii is designating its basketball game against UNLV on Dec. 6 as "Green and White Night."
In the past, the team has had "Green Out," "White Out," and "Black Out" nights, where fans were asked to wear the chosen color.
This time, fans on one half of the Stan Sheriff Center are being asked to wear green. The other half is being asked to wear white.
"This will be a really a really fun activity for the fans," UH coach Riley Wallace said.

Shelton boxing tournament in Palolo on Saturday
The first annual Clinton Shelton Memorial Boxing Invitational is Saturday at Palolo Valley District Park Gym.
Top amateur boxers from around the state will compete. Also, a final 10-count will be held for Shelton, a former top state amateur boxer who died recently.
The bouts start at 7 p.m.
Rush is Gatorade football player of year
Konawaena tight end and defensive lineman Dylan Rush is the Gatorade football player of the year for Hawaii.
He is also a finalist for national player of the year award.
Rush has a 3.73 grade-point average, and he's a two-time state champion wrestler. He also competes in judo and is a national power lifter.
"We ran behind him on offense and on defense, he is a tremendous strong-side run stuffer. He is going to be a great player at the next level," Konawaena coach Todd Brown said.
