2 Kauai resorts offering discount deals
If the holidays just make you feel like running away, you may find peace and quiet on Kauai, where two resorts are offering an opportunity for escape:
At Hanalei Colony Resort, a beachfront hideaway on Kauai's north shore, travelers are invited to "Unwind and Unravel" with savings of 20 percent off rooms that ordinarily run from $210 to $335 per night.
The discount is not combinable with any other special offer and requires a two-night minimum stay. Additional savings are available for bookings that are made online at Hanalei Colony's Web site, www.hcr.com.
Situated on five beachfront acres, Hanalei Colony offers 48 low-rise two-bedroom condominium units with fully equipped kitchens and private lanais, all with sweeping views of Hanalei Bay or lush tropical mountains. In keeping with its restful ambiance, the units do not have televisions, stereos, or phones.
Resort amenities include a swimming pool, jacuzzi spa, barbecue and picnic areas, free wireless Internet service, a guest laundromat and twice-weekly maid service.

Kauai Beach Hotel & Resort (formerly the Radisson Kauai Beach Resort) is also offering an Early Holiday Break Package for kamaaina, through Dec. 24.
The package requires a two-night minimum stay and includes deluxe accommo- dations, dinner for two one evening and breakfast for two one morning in the resort's Naupaka Terrace restaurant.
In addition, the resort is offering 10 percent off all other food and beverage purchases for kamaaina during this period. The package starts at $199 per night, based on double occupancy, and inclusive of tax and gratuities. It cannot be combined with any other special package or discount offer.
Kamaaina rates for room only are also available, starting at $139 per night. A Hawaii state driver's license is required as proof of residency.
