Star-Bulletin Index


The Bloomberg / Star-Bulletin Index is a price-weighted index designed to measure the performance of Hawaii-based companies. The index was developed with a base value of 100 as of December 31, 1999. A chart of the index which shows the weekly performance of its members is published weekly in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Hawaiian lifts off

Hawaiian Holdings Inc. was the leading percent gainer in the Bloomberg Honolulu Star-Bulletin index this week, climbing 6.9 percent to close at $3.85. The Hawaiian Airlines holding company's stock is well above this year's low of $2.30 on Sept. 28, but still far from its high for this year of $7.27.

Hoku Scientific Inc. added 6.3 percent during the week to close at $8.90. Also exceeding the index's 2.1 percent gain for the week were Alexander & Baldwin Inc., which closed at $52.11, and Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc., which closed at $26.77.
