Sea Warriors place 3 on Region team

Flavia Brakling, Barbara Martin and Vera Oliveira were named to the AVCA All-Pacific region team yesterday after leading the Hawaii Pacific volleyball team into the second round of the NCAA tournament.

It was the second time Brakling, a senior, was so honored.

Brigham Young Hawaii senior Yu Chuan Weng was placed on the team for the third time. Taina Savage represented UH-Hilo while Chaminade was shut out.

» Lecca Roberts was an honorable mention selection on the All-West Coast Conference women's volleyball team.

The sophomore for the Pepperdine Waves was fourth in the league with 1.32 blocks per game.

Kekai Crabb, a junior libero from Kamehameha, led the 17-7 Waves with 348 digs in 28 matches.

Lee wins CalPac weekly honors

Kepua Lee was named the California Pacific Conference women's basketball Player of the Week.

Lee a 5-foot-8 sophomore guard from Moanalua, led the Menlo College to season-opening victories over La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer.

Former HPU runner named All-American

Holy Names' William Ngetich, a transfer from Hawaii Pacific, earned All-American honors after finishing 16th at the NAIA Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday.

Ngetich, an All-American at HPU, finished the 8-kilometer course in 25:03.85. In the women's 5K race, Kalani graduate Nicole Woitovitch finished 145th with a time of 19:45.90.

At the NCAA Division III Championships in Delaware, Ohio, on Saturday, Iolani graduate Nicole Anderson finished 73rd with a time of 23:37.9 on the 6K course.
