ROYAL GUARD HONORS KING KALAKAUA

The Royal Guard marched on the grounds of Iolani Palace on Wednesday during a ceremony marking the birthday of King David Kalakaua. Kalakaua, also known as the Merrie Monarch, ruled the kingdom of Hawaii from 1874 until his death in 1891.

A crew of city workers installed a 55-foot Christmas tree in front of Honolulu Hale yesterday that was donated by Joseph Aranio of Hawaii Kai.
