Hawaii Pacific drops 2 spots in D-II poll
Hawaii Pacific (23-2) dropped two spots from No. 2 to No. 4 in the CSTV/AVCA Division II poll, and Brigham Young-Hawaii (20-4) jumped up two slots to No. 17.
Both teams play in the NCAA II Pacific Region tournament, starting Thursday.
Ogoshi shares player of week award
Hofstra sophomore setter Shellane Ogoshi earned her third Colonial Athletic Association layer of the week award yesterday.
Ogoshi, a former Roosevelt standout, led the Pride to a win over Northeastern that clinched the CAA regular-season title. She had 50 assists, 32 digs and six kills in the win over the Huskies.
Ogoshi shared the weekly honor with Melissa Peterson of Virginia Commonwealth.
Hawaii coed sailors win dinghy championship
The University of Hawaii coed sailing team wrapped up its season with a victory in the North/South Pacific Coast Fall Dinghy Championship at Lake Isabella, Calif.
Out of 16 teams, Hawaii finished with 163 points, 10 ahead of second-place Stanford.
Hawaii's Bryan Lake and Meredith Adams finished fourth in the A division, Joey Pasquali and Becky Mabardy took third in the B division, Mike Scott was a runner-up in the C division, and Eric Oppen won the D division.
Sceats makes Honolulu Futures main draw
University of Hawaii tennis player Ryan Sceats beat Jonathan Galyon 6-1, 6-0 yesterday to qualify for the main draw of the Honolulu Futures Tournament, which starts today at UH.
Sceats' first-round singles match is tomorrow, but he also plays today in doubles with partner Jarrod Diepraam in the featured match at 5:30 p.m.
Another UH player, Sascha Heinemann, is also in the singles main draw and starts tournament play tomorrow.
Seasiders water polo team seeded fourth
The 16th-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii water polo team earned the fourth seed in the Western Water Polo Association Tournament to be played Thursday through Sunday at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles.
The Seasiders (12-8) play fifth-seeded Radlands (20-11) in the opener.
