Isle products help Menlo to volleyball title
Seven Hawaii high school graduates helped Menlo College to win its second consecutive California Pacific Conference women's volleyball championship Thursday night.
Junior hitter Sanoe' Eselu (Moanalua) had 12 kills and two aces for the Oaks (17-6, 13-1) in the 30-20, 30-19, 30-25 win over Dominican. Senior setter Kari Shimomura (McKinley) had 27 assists and two aces, and sophomore libero Christa Hewett (Kamehameha) added 20 digs for Menlo, which advances to next week's NAIA Region II tournament.
Also playing for the Oaks were Krista Catian (Hanalani), finishing with 12 digs; Talia Onosai (Word of Life) with five kills; Courtney Adaro (Moanalua) with four kills and two aces; and Ames Samelu (Kaimuki) with an ace.
