Hawaii woman wins her way into bake-off
Enny Williams is in the running for a $1 million grand prize and big-time baking fame.
Williams has been named one of 100 finalists in the 42nd Pillsbury Bake-Off, the only contestant from Hawaii.
"I was so happy," Williams said, describing getting the news. "I jumped up and down, I cried, 'Oh my God!'"
She'll compete in the bake-off March 19 to 22 in Orlando, Fla., with her recipe, Cereal-Almond Brittle, entered in the Simple Snacks category.
The grand prize includes a kitchen full of new appliances. Winners in five categories of competition will win $10,000 each and a new oven.
Williams is a waitress at Honolulu Country Club and the Original Pancake House.
The Pillsbury contest -- which offers the biggest prize in the country -- is the only one she's entered, and she's been doing so for about seven years.
The finalists were chosen from among tens of thousands of entries. They represent cooks from 35 states.
